When you say the word Mitsubishi, it can mean a lot of things. After all, the Mitsubishi is a brand that is used by a lot of companies. Mitsubishi, in fact, is actually a Japanese conglomerate that consists of many and varied autonomous companies and businesses which share the Mitsubishi brand and trademark. And aside from the Mitsubishi trademark, these companies have a common legacy and tradition of excellence which dates back as far as the 19th century.

The first Mitsubishi Company was a shipping firm founded by Yataro Iwasaki in 1873, with the name Mitsubishi Shokai. Later, Mitsubishi expanded to include coal mining, shipbuilding, banking, insurance, warehousing and trade, and had a diverse array of products ranging from paper, steel, electrical parts, automobiles, and even aircraft.Mitsubishi gained a role in world history in terms of aviation as it was the manufacturer of the famous Zero aircraft which was widely used in aerial conflicts in World War II. And after the war, Mistubishi was divided into various companies that were independent of each other in 1946 but still utilized the technology acquired by Mitsubishi and its technical strengths as well. And among of these companies are Mistubishi Motors and the Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, which are entirely devoted to the manufacture of cars and trucks respectively. These divisions of the Mitsubishi conglomerate supplied cars and trucks to an international market, mainly in Europe, United States and the Far East as well as automobile components like Mitsubishi Truck Parts and Mitsubishi Truck Accessories.

Trucks made by Mitsubishi are renowned for their reliability. And the reason for this is because almost all of the trucks manufactured by Mitsubishi share a common construction of Mitsubishi Truck Parts. Take the engine as an example. Light to medium-duty Mitsubishi trucks, such as SUVs and pick-up trucks, are often equipped with an efficient gasoline, while trucks often have more powerful four stroke turbo intercooler diesel. Mitsubishi Trucks also share similarities when it comes to the drivetrain. Mitsubishi trucks often use the same type of transmissions as other cars, which can be either an automatic transmission or a manual transmission with synchronizers. Some heavy-duty trucks however, have manual transmissions with no synchronizers installed. The reason for this is because manual transmissions with synchronizers have a lighter weight than synchronized transmissions, though this trend is losing popularity in trucks as automatic and semi-automatic transmissions and becoming more and more common. Other Mitsubishi Truck Parts that share construction in all truck models include the steel or aluminum chassis, and the pneumatic, hydraulic, water, and electrical systems of the truck.

Since the truck is mainly used for heavy duty purposes such as hauling and transporting large cargo, it is crucial that Mitsubishi Truck Parts must be regularly maintained and inspected for wear. Constant stresses on these parts can cause it to wear out, and worn out Mitsubishi Truck Parts can reduce the performance of the truck and cause it to malfunction. Also, worn-out truck parts can adversely affect the performance of other full functioning parts and reduce the overall service life of the vehicle.

Subaru is proud to deliver its horizontally opposed engines which are similar to that of Porsche. The engine is incorporated in the latest model of Subaru Legacy, a midsize car introduced by the automaker in the year 1989. The redesigned Legacy made it more Subaru than before.

The first Legacy was equipped with a 2.0 L engine with all-wheel drive. In Japan, Subaru Legacy is famed for its agility and affordability. In fact, the affordability factor of the vehicle extends as well to 1996 Subaru Legacy Outback accessories, which are engineered to augment quality, performance and style. The accessories, which include sunshade, oil filter, car cover, wheel dust shields and others, are tested to suit and perform according to the standards set by the automotive industry.Subaru Legacy is expected to follow the successful footsteps of Impreza. The latter is a compact car introduced in the year 1993. Its name was coined from the Italian word ‘impresa’, which means a badge or motto. In Poland, impreza means to celebrate or party. Impreza hits the market with a smash. Since its debut up until now, Impreza is getting brisk sales. It is also deemed as one of the best-buy vehicles available today.

Legacy is brought to the next level when the automaker introduced it to boxer engine. It is now Subaru’s flagship model. It comes in either a station wagon or a 4-door sedan. Next year, Legacy will be expanded to include the Spec B sedan. The upcoming model put emphasis on performance. Hence, it uses improve Subaru Legacy parts like drivetrain and suspension. It also borrows the electrifying engineering of Impreza WRZ STI.

Ted Lalka, Subaru of Canada’s vice-president of product planning and public relations explains, “Subaru is a big advocate of grand touring. The Spec B is more of a GT model than a performance model like the STI, but has a lot of the same type of performance character.

One way of getting rid of an old car is to donate it to a local charity. Some well-known places that accept cars as donations are the Salvation Army, Goodwill and Trees for the Future. However, this list is in no way exhaustive so always check with your local charities, however big or small.

Once donated to charity, cars are treated one of two ways:

1) Charities can sell the cars for whatever monetary value they can get. It this case, they can sell them to a dealership or opt to for direct sale to prospective buyers.

2) The charity also has the option of keeping them. These cars are then used to transport persons or equipments. In the event that the charity promises not to sell the car, it is required that this intent be disclosed to the donor (you). They may subsequently face penalties from the IRS if they do sell it.How car donations affect you:

Car donations count as non-monetary donations which are tax deductible. It is important for persons to realize that cars being donated must be valued and it is the car owner’s responsibility to get the valuation done. Once the value of the car is determined, the corresponding IRS forms must be accurately filled out when filing your tax returns.

Warning:

Non-monetary donations can often come under scrutiny so keep an accurate filing system. Your file should include receipts for purchases or repairs made on the car, photographs of the car, a copy of the selected charity’s letter of determination received from the IRS to verify that they do qualify for a tax emption, written proof of the donation from the charity and a copy of your valuation report.

Tips:

1) Once a car donation is made, an IRS Form 8283 form must be included in your tax return application. Speak with you location tax department for clear instructions on which sections to complete and why.

2) You may receive a range for the value of your car. Be careful not to simply award the highest possible value since this may result in fees and penalties if the value you document is wrong, especially if there is a big difference between the awarded value and the actual value.

3) Always remember that there are many penalties that can be incurred for attempts to mislead or defraud the IRS even if there is no direct intent. Check with your state department for necessary regulations to ensure that the transaction is completely legal.

The Vauxhall Astra has become a firm favourite with UK Police forces. Vauxhall has now introduced new technology to help officers use their time more efficiently and help prevent crime as well respond more quickly. Launched at Milbrook last week was a new Vauxhall Astra fitted with a Panasonic Toughbook CF-19, market-leading, rotating screen, convertible notebook, which sets a benchmark in rugged mobile computing. The custom Astra is aimed at field-based professionals who need access to WiFi and 3G broadband. Dick Ellam, Vauxhall Special Vehicles Manager, said: “The Astra has long-since been a trusted model within the police, which is why we have opted to make this feature available. Toughbook rugged mobile computers are already in use by several police services across the country, and are proving to be a revolutionary resource to police; at a time when spending cuts are rife, a device that enables the force to save time and money will be invaluable.” This new technology is highly valuable to the Police force because historically logging a crime report was a lengthy process and would usually start with a home visit.

The officer would then have to take notes in a notebook and then write up a crime report. Typically, the report would then be faxed back to the office to a crime input team who would then have to type it up. The Toughbook fits into a docking station, which is mounted in the glove box of the Vauxhall Astra. The Toughbook can be easily removed and this allows the laptop screen to be viewed in both upright and downward positions. A similar laptop system can be added to a Vauxhall Zafira in Camberley as it too has become a favourite amongst the UK Police force. The officer would then have to take notes in a notebook and then write up a crime report.

For those not sure of what a coilover actually is, they are essentially car suspension kits, with the term ‘coilover’ short for ‘coil spring over strut’. They consist of shock absorbers with coil springs encircling them and are assembled as a unit prior to installation.
There are many different types of suspension kit to choose from and among the best and most popular are AP coilovers. These can be used for the fine adjustment of ride height and each kit is optimised for the specific vehicle application thanks to the factory set damping.
This means that they can offer the best balance of sports driving, ride quality, safety and durability around. Also, they are coated with zinc for tough corrosion resistance, while the springs in them have a hard-wearing epoxy coating.
They are built to handle the punishing conditions that suspension has to endure not only in terms of ride quality, but also as a result of adverse weather.
It is important for individuals to note that coilover height adjustable units are supplied both front and rear where possible and, when rear suspension design does not allow for this, alternative height adjustable units are supplied.
AP coilovers are a fantastic choice for anyone wanting to enhance their vehicle’s suspension. Ride quality, safety and durability are all of the very highest order and the kits are available at a reasonable price that won’t break the bank.

Back in 2000 when I was looking for my first car, I decided to buy my Subaru because it was neat and compact, with a small engine and low running costs. I was just out of university, struggling along in my first job, and the second-hand three-door little car was the best I could manage at the time.

Although I’ve since moved on from that job and am now paid a respectable salary, out of some bizarre kind of loyalty to my first car – which, in all fairness, has never caused me any great problems – I refused to sell my Subaru and kept it as its value depreciated and it became less and less practical. But since it continued to run, I also reasoned that there was no reason to look for a new car, employing the maxim, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’ I don’t do many long journeys so didn’t feel justified in shelling out for a new car, with all the the associated financial and environmental costs. I figured I’d just run it into the ground and hold onto it for as long as I could.I decided to sell my Subaru Impreza when I took it into the garage for its last service. When I realised that the money I would need to spend on it over the next couple of years to ensure it kept passing its MOTs would be greater than the value of the car itself, I bit the bullet and looked for a Subaru buyer. Selling my Subaru was a sorry decision but it made no sense to keep pouring cash into a car that was ultimately destined for the scrap heap – I might as well cut my losses and buy a newer car that would need less maintenance and would, in the long term, save me money.

I used the classified ads in the local paper both to sell my Subaru and look for a new car. It was a new experience for me; I had bought my first car from a family friend as I knew he was giving me a good deal and it would be in good condition, so I’d never had to negotiate the endless questions of model, age, space, safety record, fuel efficiency, price and colour that confronted me when I scanned the listings. In the end I decided my requirements (five door hatchback, no more than five years old), and made a set of fairly arbitrary decisions to narrow it down further.

I had several inquiries from people wanting to buy my Subaru, though one or two were put off when they saw it. I did everything I could (within reason) to make it more attractive, from the obvious clean and polish to replacing the worn old windscreen wipers and filling it with petrol as an incentive. I finally found my Subaru buyer – a student looking for a first car, who wasn’t too worried about the long-term potential as long as it got her to the end of her course. I felt it had found its rightful home and was pleased that I’d managed to get something for it, even if it wasn’t much.

Among the many new cars and concept vehicles that were rolled out at the 2009 New York International Auto Show, the Acura ZDX created some of the most buzz. What Acura calls a four-door sports coupe, visitors to the show have named it one of the most impressive looking new vehicles among scores introduced, a true game changer for the Acura brand.

The ZDX was designed to include rousing styling, contemporaneous luxury and fastidious refinement. Featuring aesthetic curves, an aggressively raked roofline and conspicuous fender flares, the ZDX embodies the design traits found in a coupe, sedan and sport utility vehicle.A streamlined design running from the headlights to the length of the car helps to punctuate the car’s presence and elegance. In keeping with the coupe-inspired styling, the rear door handles are smartly concealed in the C-pillar. The all-glass liftgate opens widely to bring out a highly utilitarian cargo space with integrated under-floor repository. The prototype is finished off with chic dual chrome exhaust outlets and 9-spoke machined wheels outfitted with 20-inch Michelin tires.

“From the very first sketch of the ZDX, I wanted to create an emotional vehicle that challenged conventional thinking of what a sports coupe should be,” said Michelle Christensen, ZDX exterior designer. “My goal was to create a strikingly beautiful exterior, and use that attraction to help draw you into the rich interior.”

Inside, the ZDX expresses contemporary luxury while focusing on coddling front passengers. The cabin is awash in leather, an attribute which gives the interior a luxurious and welcoming feel. The hand-stitched leather dash and instrument panel sweep down to form a dual cockpit layout, creating a personal and intimate experience for the front seat occupants.

Premium leather seats are highly bolstered to aid passengers during sporty driving while providing comfort for a long trip. A black monochromatic center stack leads to the textured metallic center console, which complements the black and pearl white leather trim. The thick leather wrapped steering wheel provides ample grip and is framed by racing-inspired paddle shifters. The cabin is enclosed by a panoramic glass roof which runs the entire length of the vehicle, providing occupants with a exciting view of the world around them.

The production version of the ZDX will arrive in Acura dealerships this fall and will pair an all-new six speed automatic transmission to a powerful V-6 engine. All wheel drive is standard as are the usual Acura attributes including class leading handling and cornering.

Despite its relatively smalal scale of operations when put alongside Toyota, Honda continues to be Japan’s most interesting auto maker, Asia’s response to the European techno-house of Audi. Its IMA, for example, is a truly practical petrol-electric car, and the NSX continues to be the best supercar that no body has heard of. In between these comes an everyman range of cars, from the simple elegance of its Jazz city car through to the Volvo-rivalling Accord Tourer.

There is also 1.0 litre insight, a strange-looking little hybrid car that, since the introduction of IMA, has fallen out favor. A neat two-seater sports car that feels distinctly European in execution. Honda has some really interesting products in the pipeline, which promises sparkling performance allied to outstanding economy. ACCORD/TSX Offered in both sedan and Touring (estate) variants, the sculpted Accord is a far more substantially-sized car than it looks at first glance; this is particularly the case with the stylish Touring version.Quite and comfortable and with a suspension system more geared as much to ride quality as it is sporting handling, the car has winning fans at a rate which is surprising even its advocates within the company. A choice of petrol engines-2.0 and 2.4 litre units with respective outputs of 155PS and 190PS and the 2.2 turbo diesel, a fine piece of engineering that was long awaited; Honda’s engine designers set themselves very high standards which took time to meet. CIVIC Honda’s mainstay model is produced in 3-and5-door body shells, with a choice of engines and transmissions, and like its smaller stable mate Jazz, displays a high level of interior flexibility that generates considerable customer satisfaction. Recent upgrades to the styling (new lights, revised bumpers) have helped keep the look fresh, and the range has been added to Type S, which slots in between the mainstream petrol model and the stunning hot hatch Type R; that later car is fastest-accelerating car in its class, finally rectifying the one omission in Honda’s small car range. CR-V Honda’s response to the mid-sized 4×4 of Suzuki, Land Rover and the Mitsubishi, CR-V is a competent, solid-feeling multi-purpose player. Chunky in appearance yet surprisingly pleasing to drive, the machine is available only with the 150PS, 2.0 litre four cylinder engine.-though there is a choice of manual or automatic transmission. As with the HR-V, the car can be run in either front-drive or four wheel drive formats. Handling is as clean as can be expected in this class of cars, and the ride quality is good too; there is a tendency for the car to wander at high speeds, but that is symptomatic of most sports utility vehicles.

JAZZ This car is a masterpiece of flexible design, managing to provide accommodation for five adults-and an incredibly efficient package of seating flexibility which would allow three adults and a wardrobe into the car at the same time.-without taking up any more road space than is absolutely essential. Early cars suffered from a slightly jittery ride but indicating Honda’s ability to quickly change production, this has since been remedied and the car now rides smoothly. There is only one engine option-a zippy little 1.4 litre four cylinder-but this can be matched to either manual of constantly variable transmission, and there is also a Sport version offered which offers sharper handling.

The i-MiEV is the first pure-electric vehicle (EV) available to world markets in regular series production from a major manufacturer. In the motoring industry the i-MiEV can be classed as a revolution and a product of Mitsubishi’s sub brand “Intelligent Motion” which aims to reduce CO2 output on a global scale. For consumers it is a revolution as well, the fully electric car concept has been around for many years and now finally we the consumer can buy a fully electric Mitsubishi from a local dealer – just as we would with a traditional vehicle. Mitsubishi also provide Peugeot and Citroen with their respective EV models based entirely on the i-MiEV.

Mitsubishi’s model is the only car at the moment that can be purchased outright. UK customers benefit from the government’s Plug-In Car Grant (P-ICG) of £5,000, therefore the outright purchase price of the Mitsubishi i-MiEV is £23,990. As well as consumers being able to purchase outright, Mitsubishi Contract Motoring offers a competitive finance package on a non-maintained contract hire basis over a 48 month period for £399 per month. Independent motoring advisors CAP have predicted that the Mitsubishi i-MiEV will retain 43% of its on the road price after the £5,000 government incentive P-ICG and after three years and 30,000 miles which is better than most combustion engine models currently on the market. Not only is the i-MiEV the first fully electric vehicle available to the masses, it is also the first EV model to have been crash tested by Euro NCAP and receive a respectable four star rating. Independent motoring advisors CAP have predicted that the Mitsubishi i-MiEV will retain 43% of its on the road price after the £5,000 government incentive P-ICG and after three years and 30,000 miles which is better than most combustion engine models currently on the market.
